Miura Monterrey Pinot Noir

Year: 2009
Rating: 91
Rated by: JM

Varietal: Pinot Noir

Region: Monterrey, California

Description: The 2009 Pinot Noir crop was smaller than normal in the Santa Lucia Highlands. The warm summer and fall led to ripe, intense wines. I think that they are accessible now but will continue to hold well for the next 4 to 6 years. All of the 2009 Miura Pinot Noirs are showing the same type of characteristics. We truck the grapes up to the winery in refrigerated trucks to keep the grapes as close to the condition in which they were picked as possible, and once at the winery pass thru a sorting table as do all of our grapes. Like all the Miura wines, there was no added yeast. It sounds almost cliché these days to say so, but the goal is to maximize the expression of the vineyard.

Pairings:  One of the better Monterrey Pinots I have had in a while. This should hold up well with roast leg of lamb.
